ITINERARY
I. OPENING – “THE CALL”
Time: 5:00 PM
Performer: Senegalese Master Drummer - Moulaye Naing and his drummers
Description:
A solo talking drum performance initiates the ceremonial procession with backup drummers. This rhythmic “call” serves as a sonic invocation, referencing traditional African practices of communication and gathering.
II. PROCESSION – “THE RESPONSE” & “THE MARCH”
Time: Immediately following “The Call”
Participants:
1st - Moulaye Drummer: Moulaye Niang, living in Venice, Italy
2nd - Morgan State University Marching Band (Drumline)
3rd - Camela Santoro (procession guide)
Description:
The Morgan State drumline responds musically to the talking drum, joining the Senegalese performer. Together, they march down Via Garibaldi, forming a vibrant rhythmic procession toward the pavilion. Spectators are encouraged to follow the performers.
III. PAVILION PERFORMANCE
Time: Arrival at Pavilion (5:45 PM)
Description:
A coordinated performance at the ReCall & Response Pavilion. The drummers circle the pavilion, engaging its interactive features through rhythm and movement, emphasizing the "call and response" tradition in African and Diaspora culture.
IV. SPOKEN WORD – “THE SPACE MAKERS”
Time: (6 PM - 6:10 PM) Following Pavilion Performance
Group: The Space Makers
Description:
A surprise spoken word flash mob performance erupts among the crowd. Performers will use rhythm, voice, and body to reflect on themes of memory, diaspora, and cultural restitution.
V. POURING OF LIBATION – “HONORING THE ANCESTORS”
Time: (6:15 PM - 6:30 PM) Immediately after spoken word
Presider: Prof. Pash Obeng
Description:
A ceremonial libation is poured to honor the ancestors of Africa and the African Diaspora. This moment of reverence grounds the performance in spiritual continuity and cultural respect.

Coleman a. Jordan will address the work completed by the team of designers, collaborators, and builders as well as acknowledging the sponsors of the project and event.
VII. CELEBRATION – MOULAYE BAND SHARED MEAL
Time: (6:30 PM – Close)
Details:
Guests are invited to stay for music, dancing, and a community meal featuring African and Afro-Diasporic cuisines. Live music from Moulaye Niang band, Peace Diouf performance.
